Tri-County Farmers Association, GreenPoint Ag Combine Retail Agronomy Operations

Mar 01, 2022

Tri-County Farmers Association
(March 2022) – Tri-County Farmers Association (Tri-County) and GreenPoint Ag Holdings, LLC (GreenPoint Ag) have completed the transaction to combine their operations. The combination includes all operations of Tri-County Farmers Association and GreenPoint Ag.
The combined businesses will operate as GreenPoint Ag with 114 retail and wholesale agronomy locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas, servicing 11 major crops across 28 million acres. The combined GreenPoint Ag is a top 7 wholesale and retail agronomy company with over $1 billion in sales that employs over 1000.
Tri-County Farmers Association is a farmer-owned cooperative with seven retail locations in east-central Arkansas, servicing its growers with seed, crop protection, crop nutrition, custom application and crop consulting.  They also provide petroleum distribution which includes propane.
GreenPoint Ag, combined with the coop members of Alabama Farmers Cooperative (AFC), Tennessee Farmers Cooperative (TFC), is the southern United States’ largest farm retailer.  It is jointly owned by TFC, AFC, WinField United, Tipton Farmers Cooperative, Farmers, Inc, and now, Tri-County Farmers Association.
“I am absolutely thrilled for this combination,” said Jeff Blair, CEO of GreenPoint Ag. “Tri-County‘s farmer-focus and service-oriented business is a perfect fit with GreenPoint Ag. There is very little geographic overlap and Tri-County’s locations will fit well within the existing GreenPoint Ag footprint.  Thus, we believe the combination will allow us to provide better service to all growers in the region and be more efficient logistically.”
“We think this is the right move at the right time for Tri-County’s farmers. We’ve done some great work over the last 65 years, always advancing and strengthening our coop, but now recognize that for Tri-County to continue, in this era, and to provide best possible service to our growers, we need a large partner,” said Sam Medford, TCFA’s Board Chair.  “GreenPoint Ag’s farmer-owned structure and geographic footprint allow us to remain part of the coop system while benefiting from supply chain, economies of scale, agronomy and technology that GreenPoint Ag brings with its system.”
GreenPoint Ag is based in Decatur, Alabama, with regional offices in Memphis and LaVergne, Tennessee.
