Tipton Farmers Cooperative, GreenPoint Ag to Combine Retail Services

(December 2018) – Tipton Farmers Cooperative and GreenPoint Ag, LLC have signed a letter of intent to consolidate their operations. The consolidation will include all operations of both Tipton Farmers Cooperative and GreenPoint Ag.

GreenPoint Ag is owned by farmers through farmer owned cooperatives today. If approved by both parties, the combined business will continue to be owned by farmers and would operate as GreenPoint Ag.

A consolidation with Tipton Farmers Cooperative enables GreenPoint Ag to enter the Tennessee marketplace and leverage Tipton Farmers Cooperative’s strong reputation and service model.  Combining with GreenPoint AG creates the opportunity for Tipton Farmers Cooperative to continue to provide exceptional service to its customers and members while capitalizing on the size, scale, and strength of a large retail ag business in the Southeast.

“This venture offers great potential to serve the needs of growers in our respective trade area well into the future,” states Joey Caldwell, General Manager of Tipton Farmers Cooperative. “The shared core values of both organizations focused on the success of the grower presents a wealth of possibilities to serve the ever-changing needs of our customers.”

“This is a great opportunity for both of our organizations to combine our efforts to better serve growers operating in the markets we serve,” adds Tim Witcher, President/CEO of GreenPoint Ag. “We are excited about the expertise and professionalism that Tipton Farmers Cooperative brings together with GreenPoint Ag to provide more opportunities and resources to the growers in our markets.”

GreenPoint Ag was formed in 2012, based in Memphis, Tennessee, and operates 50 agronomy locations in Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Texas.

Tipton Farmers Cooperative is a farmer owned supply cooperative chartered in 1935 and serves customers in the southwest corner of Tennessee. Headquartered in Covington, Tennessee, the cooperative operates retail agronomy, fuel, a cotton gin, and car care center in Covington and retail agronomy in Halls.

The expected completion date will be in 2019.
