 What is GreenPoint Gives?

GreenPoint Ag’s charitable giving program, GreenPoint Gives, was established to support the work of charitable organizations and to encourage employee giving by doubling the impact of your community contributions. The program is powered by the online charitable giving platform, Benevity, and provides a dollar-for-dollar match of employee contributions for eligible organizations up to a maximum of $1,000 per employee per fiscal year until the company’s annual maximum has been met.

Who is eligible to participate?

GreenPoint Ag will match contributions made through Benevity by all full-time, part time and seasonal employees who are actively employed with the organization. Temporary workers are not eligible.

What organizations are eligible for the match program?

Organizations within Benevity are registered charities or nonprofits that have been recognized by their domestic regulatory agency as being either charitable in nature or qualifying for charitable status. All causes in the database have been vetted thoroughly by a dedicated internal team to establish their charitable status and eligibility for your program.

With an open match program, GreenPoint Ag allows for employees to personally choose organizations that are meaningful to the well-being of their community. Organizations must be recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt. GreenPoint Ag reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any contribution prior to paying a matching grant or discontinue eligible matching for any organization that it feels violates the values outlined in our community investment program.

GreenPoint Ag is committed to fostering, cultivating and preserving a culture of diversity equity and inclusion and will not support politically affiliated organizations or organizations that discriminate based on race, gender, ethnicity, or creed. GreenPoint Ag does not support donations to the general budget of faith-based organizations; however, community enhancement programs operated by these organizations are eligible for the matching program. Our most up-to-date program guidelines can be found here or in GreenPoint Gives by navigating to the Quick Links tab on your main dashboard.

How can I tell if a cause or giving opportunity is eligible for matching?

Many causes and giving opportunities are eligible to receive matching funds—helping to multiply the impact of your donation. If you’re not sure if the cause or giving opportunity has matching available, look for these cues in the pages across your site.

Dashboard: Giving opportunities in the Featured Content section have a “Matching Offer” label.

Cause profile and giving opportunity pages: A green “Matching Offer” banner appears on the right side of both pages. Scroll down a bit further and you’ll find the matching rate and the View Details link, which lists how long the match is available for and if a minimum donation is required. A green “Matching Offer” label also appears directly below the page title.

Donation form: As you enter your donation amount, any available match amount displays underneath. The matching funds are automatically added, and the cause receives them along with your donation.

I don't see my favorite organization. Can it be added?

Benevity currently houses more than 2 million 501(c)(3) organizations in their database, and you have the power to grow that number by nominating other non-profit organizations.

  1. Click ‘Quick Links’ at the right side of the main navigation.
  2. Select ‘Nominate a Cause’ from the drop-down options.
  3. Complete the form provided with the required information about your nominated organization. Benevity will use this information to find your organization, and determine their eligibility for the program, so the more information you can provide, the better.
  4. Click ‘Submit’. Your nomination will be queued for approval.
  5. You will receive an email with the outcome after a determination on your nomination has been made.

Please allow up to 2 weeks for your nomination to process. Nominated organizations must fill out vetting and registration forms before being eligible to participate on the platform.

Why is an organization I support not eligible for matching?

Benevity has set our match parameters around the eligibility outlined in our program guidelines. Some qualifying organizations, especially those operated by faith-based organizations, may not be listed in the system as match eligible when they do qualify for our matching program. To have an organization reviewed for matching, email community@greenpointag.com.

How do I make a donation?

If you would like to donate to a specific charitable organization (also called causes), you can give directly to them by following these steps:

  1. Search for the cause you want to support by using the "find cause" toolbar in the middle of your home screen and click “Search.”
  2. In the search results, click the name of a cause to see more details at their Cause Profile page.
  3. Click “Donate Now.”
  4. Complete the form provided, entering the amount you want to give and how you want to pay for the donation.
  5. If you like, leave a comment for the cause you are supporting with any advice you may have for how to allocate your donation.
  6. Click “Confirm Donation.”
  7. Review the details of your donation on the confirmation page and make any changes if you’d like to adjust anything. This is your last chance to make any changes before your donation is made.
  8. Click “Submit Donation” and you’re done!

Once your donation has been submitted, you'll see a success page and receive a confirmation email. Please see the second page of the attached receipt for details about your chosen recipient cause. That cause will receive your donation as part of their next monthly disbursement.

What are the supported payment methods?

Benevity allows GreenPoint Ag employees to give tax deductible, one-time or recurring monetary donations through payroll deduction, PayPal or credit/debit card.

Is my donation subject to any fees?

There are two possible processing fees that could be deducted before your donation is distributed to charitable organizations:

  1. Cause feeAll donations are subject to a 2.9% cause fee to cover administrative costs. GreenPoint now covers this fee on all donations, effective August 1, 2023.
  2. Merchant fee: When users make donations via credit card or PayPal, the vendors charge a merchant fee. This can vary anywhere from 1.3%-2.8%. Payroll donations do not incur any merchant fees.

How do I edit or cancel a recurring donation?

While a donation that’s already been processed cannot be changed, editing or cancelling an upcoming or recurring donation is quick and easy. To change or cancel recurring donations made through payroll:

  1. Log into your program site.
  2. Click your name in the top-right corner and select My Profile.
  3. Go to the Giving tab.
  4. Select the recurring donation you’d like to modify or cancel and click Edit Donation.
  5. Make your modification or cancellation.
  6. Choose the option you want (save, pause or delete).

Your changes will take effect immediately. Note that recurring donations made by credit card or PayPal cannot be edited, but they can be cancelled. To change the amount of your donation, simply cancel your donation and create a new one.

Why do I have a $25 rewards credit in my account?

As a welcome to the program, we have pre-loaded your account with $25 to give to the organization of your choosing. Your credit will expire in 90 days, so be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to support the nonprofit organizations that matter most to you.

How can I access tax receipts?

The timing of your donation receipt or acknowledgement depends on how you make your payment. If it is by credit card or PayPal, it will be generated at the time of your donation. If it is by payroll, the receipt/acknowledgment is generated annually in February.

You will find your donation receipts in your profile. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. On the Dashboard, select View profile under your name and photo (or open the dropdown by your name in the top-right corner of the site and select My Profile).
  2. Open the Giving tab.
  3. Select Donation Receipts from the side menu.
  4. Find the donation and select Download Receipt.
  5. Go to page 2 of the receipt for a breakdown of the individual causes that received your donation.

Why is there a foundation referenced on the first page of the receipt?

The foundation is a partner charity that aggregates and automates the distribution for all donations and matching funds made through Benevity. This way, contributions made by everyone who uses the software are sent together. The recipient cause no longer has to process gifts, issue tax receipts, receive separate distributions from multiple companies or prepare donor reports. Because of this process, your favorite causes experience a significant reduction in the administrative time and cost associated with receiving donations.
